The Valley Season 2 Episode 8 Recap: The Biggest Snake in the Grass

The Valley Season 2

Welcome to the recap for The Valley Season 2 Episode 8. In the last episode, Jason was trying to school Danny on the art of drinking. Let’s say that did not go too well. Kristen became so fed up that she revealed a rumor about Jason and his lack of a wedding ring. This week’s episode shows tensions boiling between the couple and Jasmine, while Zack starts to understand how his friendship with Brittany has changed. So here’s exactly what happened in The Valley Season 2, Episode 8: “The Biggest Snake in the Grass.”

BBQs, gossip, and enchiladas

Scheana’s famous enchiladas have remade their Bravo debut. Janet, Brittany, and Jason are gathered at Scheana’s home for a good old-fashioned summer BBQ. Along with some poolside festivities, it seems Jax has been texting Janet to ask if she is okay, referencing past group events. Now, if I were Jax, I might be trying to concentrate more on my wife’s unhappiness, but who am I to give advice? It’s all hitting Brittany hard, who thought that rehab would show Jax fighting for her and their relationship. Sadly, all she has been dealt is a loser in aluminum instead of her knight in shining armor.

Shark after dark in The Valley

Viewers quickly learn that after the cameras cut on Brittany’s shark party, there was very quickly blood in the water. Janet is alleging that Zack said “some pretty horrible things. I can’t even repeat what he said,” about her friend Jared. However, the footage just shows Zack talking to the Good as Gold singer about his faux shark bites. But it feels like Janet is chumming the water and trying to get the group to turn on Zack. Fast forward back to Scheana’s BBQ, where Brock shares that Zack was crying to his wife.

Brittany then pipes up, saying, “He thinks I’ve always taken their side over his side. I’m with Zack a lot. I don’t know why he still feels that way.” The story deepens as Brittany reveals that Zack then rage texts her, accusing her of being a bad friend. Our poor Kentucky muffin just can’t catch a break with these men and their texts.

Jasmine is avoiding the Capernas

Across town at Kristen’s, the other side of the story is being told. Zack claims he said “I told Jared to go f*ck himself.” Zack is annoyed that Janet and B have taken his words of anger as threats and not just venting. Also, who the hell is Jared, and why does he have so much power over this group? I have to say, I’m on Zack’s side only because he used the word “hyperbole” correctly in a sentence. How many others in this group know the true definition? Bottom line, Zack is hurt. And Brittany doesn’t seem to care.

Once thoroughly talked out over the Zack vs. Janet issues, Jason arrives at the BBQ only to be asked if he has his wedding ring on. The conversation then turns to finger-pointing as the lawyer accuses Jasmine of making up the story about him being out and about without his wedding band at bars. Scheana even drops a mini grenade, noting Jasmine didn’t show up because of them. During the discussion, Jason comes up with a motive, noting that it is clear Jasmine had something she wanted to get back at Janet for. But he falls short of offering viewers a solid point. Jason and Janet draw a hard line in the sand, telling their friends, “Unless Jasmine apologizes for making this up, I can’t move forward with her.” I feel like shouting “stop trying to make fetch the Capernas happen!”

During a calm beach outing, also known as drama central, Jasmine doubles down. She won’t be giving an apology, and she notes she heard the rumor from multiple people. Lord, forget the popcorn, because I wish I had a s’more to watch this scene with, because the fire and conversation were lit. Jason tried to do the right thing by going to the source. However, the conversation between him, Janet, and Jasmine quickly took a turn. It was two against one, with Jasmine never having a real chance at winning.

Between one crashing wave Jasmine can be heard yelling “Janet you’re a sh*t ass friend. You’ve been a vibe killer. You’re exhausting. You give Karen energy. And I’m f*cking done with it.” It was a pearl-clutcher moment. Mr. Cool as a Cucumber loses it as he drags Janet back to the group to shout at Jasmine some more. Jason goes on to call Jas fake, noting, “you’ve broke my heart.” Honestly, it could have been a scene out of Laguna Beach the way these three went on. Needless to say, a beautiful beach day was ruined.

Jax slithers back in

Aside from all the drama, perhaps the scariest thing about this entire episode is how Jax tries to control Brittany’s life. After learning he had signed a lease, B moved back into the family home and covered the security cameras. As Brittany chats with Jenny, Jax’s sister, on the phone, the producers cut her off to show her a message from the father of one. It read “make sure you get that on film. I can hear everything. Childish behavior.” At that moment, Brittany was talking about her wedding rings being missing. Did he bug the place? I mean, we are speaking about Jax Taylor here. I don’t put anything past this man.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
