‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Season 2 Sets Spring 2025 Premiere at AMC, First Teaser Reveals Maggie and Negan’s Return

The first teaser for “The Walking Dead: Dead City” Season 2 was unveiled Friday out of New York Comic Con, revealing that Lauren Cohan’s Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan will return in the AMC drama series in Spring 2025.

The NYCC panel previewing the second season of the “Walking Dead” sequel series featured AMC’s “Walking Dead” franchise chief content officer Scott M. Gimple, executive producers and stars Morgan and Cohan (who will be making her series directorial debut this season), and fellow “Dead City” Season 2 cast members Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek and Dascha Polanco.

AMC’s “The Walking Dead: Dead City” follows fan-favorite characters Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) as they travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland, according to the series description. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.

Per AMC’s tease for what’s to come on “Dead City,”: In season two, in the growing war for control of Manhattan, Maggie and Negan find themselves trapped on opposite sides. As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined.

During the NYCC panel, Gimple spoke about the possibility that other characters from the original, long-running “Walking Dead” series, which ended in 2022, might appear in future seasons of “Dead City”: “I’m not telling you not to expect it. But it’s a layered universe and so much of the history is important to the present. So it’s gonna be super satisfying when I say this — you never know. It’s an option and a possibility.”

The series, which debuted its six-episode Season 1 in June 2023, airs on AMC and on the network’s subscription streaming service AMC+.
