Fans of The Walking Dead universe are in for a world of hurt come August 19 when Netflix loses a total of three shows from its expansive lineup of content. The entire eight-season catalog of Fear the Walking Dead will stroll off along with Season 1 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and the first and (so far) only season of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. While it isn’t totally clear why the trio of titles are making their way off the platform, it seems that perhaps the service’s deal with AMC has come to an end, as other favorites like Dark Winds, Interview with the Vampire, Mayfair Witches, and more will also be taking a leave of absence. Still, it’s odd that a fellow offshoot, The Walking Dead: Dead City, wasn’t announced in the lineup and seems for now to be staying on Netflix for audiences to enjoy.
Netflix has been a secondary home to the zombie-centered franchise since January, when the spin-offs first marched onto the streamer. In that time, new and old fans alike flocked to watch the tales from the comics first penned by Robert Kirkman make their way into on-screen live-action form. All the titles enjoyed viewership success, landing on the platform’s Top 10. Audiences can still catch each of the titles leaving Netflix, as they’ll continue screening on AMC’s very own streamer, AMC+.

As for what lies beyond for The Walking Dead, last weekend’s SDCC festivities revealed some bittersweet news for those who have fallen in love with Norman Reedus’ character, Daryl Dixon, as his offshoot was renewed for a fourth and final season. With the third installment just around the corner, we’re expecting the next set of episodes to set up the grand finale, which will also feature Daryl’s bestie and Reedus’ fellow longtime universe star, Melissa McBride, as Carol.
Meanwhile, the Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan-led, The Walking Dead: Dead City was given the go-ahead for a third season which will presumably continue the friends-to-enemies tale in New York City. In addition to Dead City and Daryl Dixon, another offshoot, The Ones Who Live, was ordered following the wrap up of the flagship show. That title followed Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne Grimes (Danai Gurira) on their quest to reunite. Although it was billed as a miniseries, franchise head, Scott M. Gimple, teased the possibility of a sophomore installment could perhaps arrive in the future.
Head over to Netflix to stream Daryl Dixon, Fear the Walking Dead, and The Ones Who Live before they bow out on August 19.
