'The Walking Dead's Greatest Villain Just Joined Prime Video's New Must-Watch YA Series

Jeffrey Dean Morgan in The Walking Dead Dead City Season 2

It’s been a busy year for Jeffrey Dean Morgan after starring in Invincible and The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2, and on top of also hosting the latest hit reality show, Destination X, the star just further loaded up his schedule. A new report from Variety confirms that Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jay Duplass have joined the cast of Sterling PointMegan Park’s upcoming series at Amazon. Morgan and Duplass have both been tapped for important, recurring roles in the young adult show, which was announced earlier this year. The duo joins Ella RubinAmélie Elisabeth HoeferleDaniel Quinn-ToyeJacob Whiteduck Lavoie, Bo Bragason, and Keen Ruffalo. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it will follow twins who go to an island that they inherited from their estranged grandfather.

Duplass is best known for his work as Poseidon in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1, and he also starred in the hit HBO show Industry. It’s unclear when Sterling Point aims to begin filming or, much less, when Amazon has plans to release the series, but now that the development team is at the stage to be casting stars like Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jay Duplass, these decisions can’t be far away. Megan Park is the creator of Sterling Point, and she’ll aso direct and executive produce the YA series, in addition to showrunning as well — an ace of all trades, if you will. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who have experience working on other YA projects, will also serve as EPs. So long as the scripts are ironed out and schedules lined up, Sterling Point could begin production sooner than expected.

Megan Park most recently wrote and directed My Old Ass, the critically acclaimed comedy starring Aubrey Plaza that’s currently streaming on Prime Video. Before working with Plaza on My Old Ass, Park also teamed up with Jenna Ortega and Maddie Ziegler for The Fallout, the 2021 coming-of-age drama that’s streaming on Max. Park’s work before The Fallout mostly came in music videos and shorts, and she has not secured another project beyond Sterling Point. However, if she continues a run of hits with the YA show, her phone will likely be ringing off the hook.

Sterling Point does not have an official release date on Prime Video, and it’s unclear when it’s going to begin production. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the series.
