The Walking Dead's Wildest Fan Theory Connects It To AMC's Other Hit Show

There are plenty of great fan theories about The Walking Dead, but the wildest one suggests that it’s actually a secret sequel to AMC’s other hit show, Breaking Bad. There’s a theory that suggests that the walkers will all eventually decompose and die off, but human beings will still be their own worst enemy, so society will never fully recover.

Some of the best Walking Dead theories have been debunked by the show itself. One theory suggested that Carl Grimes was recounting the story as an old man, but Carl’s untimely death put the kibosh on that theory. The theory that Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead take place in the same universe could actually still come true, though.

Breaking Bad Is A Prequel To The Walking Dead Theory Explained

There Are A Few Undeniable Connections Between The Two Shows

A bag of Heisenberg's blue meth in The Walking Dead

The notion that Breaking Bad is secretly a prequel to The Walking Dead is, surprisingly, one of the most plausible TV fan theories out there. From early in its run, The Walking Dead has been making subtle references to Breaking Bad. When Daryl discovered Merle’s drug stash, there was a handful of Heisenberg’s blue meth sprinkled at the bottom.

When Daryl tells Beth a story about an encounter with a drug dealer before the outbreak, the dealer sounds suspiciously like Jesse Pinkman. The 2009 Dodge Challenger that Walt buys impulsively in Breaking Bad is the same car that Glenn drives from Atlanta back to the camp in the woods in The Walking Dead season 1.

The most obvious connection is that both Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead aired on the same network — they’re both AMC originals — so if the creators really wanted to combine the two properties, it would be perfectly legal. There are a lot of implausible Walking Dead theories, like the idea that the entire saga has been Rick’s coma dream, but this one actually makes sense.

With The TWD Universe Expanding, There's Still Time To Drop Breaking Bad Easter Eggs

Imagine Jesse Fighting Zombies In Alaska

Since The Walking Dead universe continues to expand into multi-season spinoffs, there’s still plenty of time for the franchise to drop Breaking Bad references and eventually connect back to it. Whether it’s in Maggie and Negan’s show Dead City or Daryl and Carol’s show Daryl Dixon, there are endless opportunities for Breaking Bad Easter eggs.

The Breaking Bad timeline, even taking Better Call Saul and El Camino into consideration, only covers a couple of years, so it’s still possible for it to line up with the zombie apocalypse in The Walking Dead. If AMC wanted to do something really cool, they could have Jesse fighting zombies in Alaska.
