The Walking Dead Star Passes Away At 33

The Walking Dead star Kelley Klebenow, known to audiences as Kelley Mack, has passed away at the age of 33. She starred in five episodes of The Walking Dead season 9 as Adeline, more commonly referred to as Addy, who was a resident of the Hilltop Colony.

On Kelley Mack's Instagram page, her sister, Kathryn, shared the news of her passing, which occurred on Saturday, August 2 in Cincinnati, Ohio. A formal announcement was shared on CaringBridge, which details that Mack's cause of death came from glioma of the central nervous system.

Kelley Mack's Career & Legacy Explained

Mack was born on July 10, 1992 in Cincinnati. Her passion for storytelling was sparked when she got a mini video camera as a birthday gift. After graduating with a degree in Cinematography from Dodge College of Film at Chapman University, she lived and worked in Los Angeles for 11 years.

She is most well known for playing Addy, who dies alongside Henry (Matt Lintz), Tara Chambler (Alanna Masterston), Enid (Katelyn Nacon), and other Walking Dead characters who are killed by Alpha (Samantha Morton) in season 9. Earlier in the season, Addy admits to having a crush on Henry.

Outside The Walking Dead, Mack appeared in multiple long-running and popular network television shows, including a season 3 episode of 9-1-1 and as the character Penelope Jacobs in a season 8 episode of Chicago Med.

She has also done voice work in film, where she recorded for the critically acclaimed and Academy Award-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as the voice match for Hailee Steinfeld's Gwen Stacy. Mack also voiced the character of Gwen in a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq commercial.

Our Take On Kelley Mack's Legacy

The news of Mack passing away at such a young age is a shocking tragedy. She left a lasting impression through her portrayal of Addy in The Walking Dead season 9, and despite not being a main character, she has one of the show's most memorable exits.

AMC's post-apocalyptic The Walking Dead is only a piece of her legacy, though, which spans numerous live-action projects, voice work, producing, and screenwriting. Her contributions to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse have definitely flown under the radar, and she leaves behind an impressive body of work cut short far too soon.
