The Walking Dead: Suspicions Confirmed About Universe Expansion with More Spin-offs

Scott M. Gimple has dropped some hints about the production of more spin-off series of The Walking Dead.

The universe of The Walking Dead has proven to be a goldmine for new stories. With the success of spin-off series like Daryl DixonDead City, and The Ones Who Live, fans have found new reasons to stay hooked. These series have achieved what many hoped for: diving deeper into beloved characters and exploring new settings, like Manhattan and France, that bring a fresh twist to the narrative.

One of the most common criticisms of the main series was its extensive cast, which made it challenging to deeply develop the most beloved characters. The last mega-season, with its 24 episodes, introduced many new characters, diluting the main cast's stories. Although it was a great season, some characters disappeared for several episodes, forcing viewers to remember where their story left off.

The question that keeps popping up is: Does The Walking Dead need more spin-offs? The answer from its fans is yes, as long as the creators continue the path set by the current series. These have done a fabulous job of creating interesting stories about known characters, set in exciting places, while introducing new characters that add a new flavor to the TWD universe.

The Content Director of TWD, Scott M. Gimple, has played various roles within the universe. He began his journey in TWD in 2011 as a co-producer and writer, and took on the role of showrunner in the fourth season. Since then, he has created other series like World Beyond alongside Matt Negrete and has served in various roles in the spin-offs. In 2018, he became the CCO, steering the creative helm of the franchise.

Fans are eagerly awaiting updates confirming the expansion of The Walking Dead universe

Over time, Gimple has made several statements about the future of the TWD universe, and it seems that things will continue with new content in the near future. At the New York Comic Con 2024 panel, the producer hinted to the audience:

“We have something cooking in another part of the world, something very different... We have something relatively imminent, and then dreams for the future.”

Currently, AMC is airing The Walking Dead: Dead City, whose second season will premiere in the spring of 2025, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, whose third season will be set in Spain and will arrive sometime in 2025. It will be exciting to see what the future holds in the universe of The Walking Dead.
