The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Allison Lanier is exiting as Summer Newman and has announced her final Y&R airdate.
Lanier gave fans updates on the stunning news through a social media post, so let’s talk about this casting curveball.
Lanier first appeared as a Summer recast in 2022 when she took over the role previously played by Hunter King.
However, now Lanier is OUT as Summer and intends to pursue other opportunities.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Allison Lanier let everyone know what was happening and shared when her last episode will be. Here’s what Lanier had to say.
Lanier started off by saying, “Hi guys!! This Friday, May 2nd, will be my last episode on Y&R! I’ve loved the journey and learned so much but it’s time to grow in a different direction…”
She added, “… very grateful for all of the Y&R fans who have supported me <3.”
Of course, this departure comes as a big surprise to viewers who were expecting the Summer, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) love triangle to heat up.
Summer has been struggling with some jealousy and lingering feelings for Kyle, but she won’t have a chance to win him back – at least not right now!
Instead, Summer’s time in Genoa City is about to be cut short.
Sources tell SOD that “the show has no immediate plans to recast” the role of Summer Newman, but that could obviously change down the road.
It’s possible another actress will step into Summer’s shoes eventually – or maybe Y&R could even entice Hunter King to step back into the part.
Regardless, Allison Lanier is done filming and is about to make her final appearance on the CBS soap.
Be sure to tune in for Lanier’s last airdate on May 2 – and stick with us for more info on what the future holds for Summer!
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Summer will have to make some new predictions for her life and figure out a path off-screen that doesn’t involve a Kyle reunion.
