Things are heating up this summer on CBS Daytime’s The Young and the Restless, and executive producer and head writer Josh Griffith is previewing all the twist and turns coming up. From the mysterious arrival of Dumas to the potential reunion of one of the soaps most popular couples this summer is going to be one you won’t want to miss.

Griffith recently spoke to Soaps.com to preview all of the drama coming to the top rated network soap opera.

Fans have anxiously been awaiting the reuniting of Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Marrow) as the high-school sweethearts find their way back to each other. “But, they’ve hurt each other so many times!” The writer shares, before reminding readers that they are “their own worst enemies sometimes.”

On the opposite side of Nick’s love life is his ex-wife Phyllis. Discussing what’s to come for her, Griffith shares, “Following the trauma that Phyllis suffered after being kidnapped by Laurent, she is more focused than we have seen her in a long time, she’s in a position to achieve what she needs to both romantically and professionally.” The writer continued, “I think it’s time for Phyllis to get a win on both fronts”

The biggest story thread playing out throughout the summer is that surrounding Aristotle Dumas. “We found exactly the right person for the role.” The writer teased, as Dumas is set to be revealed in the coming days, the same time that former Days of Our Lives star Billy Flynn is set to make his debut.  Griffith teased the Dumas story, sharing, “It’s going to be a literal maze of mystery, suspense and romance with Dumas’ reveal literally right at the center of a beautiful backdrop of the French Riviera.” Dumas’ is set to immediately go face to face with Genoa City’s biggest personality as he goes up against the great and powerful Victor Newman, played by Eric Braeden. Discussing this encounter, Griffith shared, “Dumas will find himself wondering if at long last he’s met his match.”

Clare and Victoria will be taking center stage as Cole’s latest health struggle continues to play out. The executive producer teased, “If something devastating were to happen, I think the impact on Victoria, and especially Claire, would be massive.”
