The Young and the Restless spoilers and recap for Wednesday, May 21, reveal the special episode focusing on three major GC super couples unfolded and it was a lovefest, all around.
First off, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) set up some wine and a charcuterie board to surprise Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) with an early birthday celebration, just the two of them.
They drank, they talked about old times, and even shared a dance together, all alone at the Newman Ranch.
Victor gifted Nikki with an early birthday present, a locket that had the words, “Strength, Courage, Beauty” engraved across it with a photo of her, Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) in it.
Thankfully Summer Newman (last played by Allison Lanier) is away in Milan, because if she were to catch wind of her grandpa’s gift, and the fact that she wasn’t included in the pic, she might have a meltdown! Summer would never tolerate being snubbed like that!
Alas, talk did turn to Claire and her romance with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), too.
Victor was pleased that the two decided against moving in together, and while Nikki agreed she was happy they were taking it slow, she still made it clear that she supported their romance.
After all, Nikki reasoned, there was a time when people thought their relationship wouldn’t last, too.
Over at the Abbott mansion, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) had a similar set up to his nemesis’, for his wife, Diane Abbott (Susan Walters).
The living room had candles all around, and Jack wanted to do something special to thank Diane for all her hard work with the home renovations.
Over a drink, Jack informed Diane that they should take advantage of the quiet house, after all, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davison) and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) would be back home next week.
Diane dreaded the thought of them reacting the same way that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) did about the mansion renos, but at the same time, warned Jack against him advising his sisters to sugar coat things.
Jack reminded Diane that he had had a talk with Billy and his younger brother was going to apologize for telling Diane that she erased the memory of John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) from the place.
After all, John lives in their hearts, not in the way a house is decorated.
Still, Jack wanted Diane to know how much he appreciated all the hard work she put in the Abbott mansion renos, and told her she was his favorite Abbott.
Then, much to Diane’s delight, Jack proposed a honeymoon vacay, and the couple happily talked about the places they could go to.
Across town, Michael Baldwin (Christina LeBlanc) went a different route to romance Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman).
Rather than staying in, he rented out the GCAC jazz lounge; no bartender (he mixed the drinks), but a pianist who took requests.
The couple shared a dance, but Lauren was skeptical of Michael’s intentions, wondering if all this was a way to help her forgive and forget their Victor issue.
After all, Lauren is sick of worrying about Michael on the job, as Victor continues to place him in dangerous and unethical positions.
Michael assured his wife he had a surprise for her, and after a lengthy speech on all the dire and immoral assignments Victor had him do, from the get-go, he told Lauren that he chose her over his employer.
Lauren was completely caught off guard, but was still a tad worried, since Michael had stopped working for Victor before, only to go back.
Michael assured her this wasn’t going to be the case this time.
The Young and the Restless spoilers remind fans that Victor isn’t the best at taking news like the bombshell Michael is about to drop on him, so will the lawyer finally be able to walk away from the man who has not only acted as a boss, but a father figure, too?
