“Them Boys Are Comin’”: 49ers Legend Trent Williams Pushed to the Limit by Bosa & Rookie Phenom

Williams out, Bosa questionable for 49ers' Thursday game vs. Rams

When All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams suits up, dominance is expected. But this week, at back-to-back padded practices, something rare happened: Trent got tested — hard.

For the first time in years, one of the NFL’s most unshakable linemen found himself on the defensive against Nick Bosa and rookie sensation Mykel Williams. And according to one 49ers insider, it was “the most human Trent has looked in a Niners uniform.”

During drills, Bosa blew past him on a clean speed rush, sending murmurs through the sideline. Not long after, it was the rookie’s turn: Mykel Williams stunned the future Hall of Famer with a vicious bull rush that left veterans wide-eyed.

But if you think Williams is panicking, think again.

“We’re iron sharpening iron — I love it. That’s what camp’s for,” Trent said with a grin.
“But yeah — them boys are comin’.”

This isn’t a decline. Not by a long shot. The 35-year-old has allowed just one sack in the past three seasons — an absurd feat of consistency and dominance. What we’re witnessing now is a clash of elite talent, a training ground where the league’s best offensive lineman is battling against what might be the most terrifying edge duo in football.

Mykel Williams, the explosive rookie, is already turning heads. And with Bosa locked in on another DPOY-caliber season, this 49ers defense is sharpening its blade against the best — starting with Trent.

If this is what practice looks like… imagine Sundays.
