Thinking About Matt Rempe And Other Rangers Things

1.  A year has gone by and we still don't know for sure whether Matt Rempe is a true hockey player or a Sideshow Charlie better suited for Loony Tunes and Merrie Melodies.

2. Bits and  pieces of evidence indicate that The Skating Giraffe has improved his offensive abilities and is more aware of potential penalties. He's a smart cookie and well-motivated.

3. Which prompts the question: why in the world did Peter Laviolette limit Rempe's ice time until it was too late for Matt to make a difference in the frantic homestretch run? (Answer: Dumb coaching!)

4. The black cloud that follows Rempe around happens to exist because his next NHL suspension could be his last – even if it's an accidental hit to an opponent's head. (The way Mad Matt plays, accidents will happen.)

5. Here's a question no writer dared ask Alexis Lafrenière: "How come in the months after you signed your big, fat contract you stunk out the joint for the rest of the season?"

6. Here's question no writer dared ask Adam Fox: "How come since your injury last season you no longer look like a Norris Trophy-winner – and more like a  just average blue liner?"

7. If Dancing Larry is answering questions – that, in and of itself is a good question – I'd like to know what the guy believes his grotesque gyrations accomplish other than that he hasn't been original in a decade of body-twisting.

8. The study of analytics is supposed to result in a team performing to its best ability. With that in mind, I would not be surprised to learn that the Blueshirts are golfing better than ever.

9. If Jonny Brodzinski was only ten years younger I'd have made him team captain in a Seventh Avenue second.

10. The last chapter in Sam Rosen's proposed autobiography should be titled "How The Rangers Ruined My Farewell Season And Didn't Do Any Favors For Peter Laviolette Either."

11. Happiness is doing everything wrong and getting a new contract anyway. (How about that Chris Drury magic, folks! Houdini should be so good!!)
