Tһіs Key Plаyer Wаs Cruсіаl to tһe Rаngers' Vісtory Over Wаsһіngton

Stan Fischler would like to see the Rangers organization present an award to the club's Most Valuable Player after each winning playoff series.

That yawn that you just delivered sums up the New York Rangers-Washington Capitals series in one large exhale. But that doesn't mean we can't talk about it.

I'd like to see the Rangers organization present an award to the club's Most Valuable Player after each winning playoff series.

And since there isn't such a prize -- and may never be one -- I decided to solve that problem right here and now:

(Maestro; drum roll, please:) We now have The Maven's Most Valuable Ranger Award For Round One: (Winner gets a wooden medal.)

Forget the numbers, let your eyes do it, and you'll see that the Pittsburgh native did everything.

He scored goals.

He was a demon on the power play.

He blocked shots.

He won 71.2 percent of the face-offs.

He forechecked as well as backchecked.

He proved he's a money player over four games, produced three red lights, three helpers for six points, and a plus-2 rating

He delivered good quotes: "We're a good hockey team and showed it every game. We're ready for anything!"

And to think that the Penguins overlooked this Pennsylvanian.
