Road Improvements
It took nearly a month for the Golden Knights to win a road game. Now, they are suddenly red hot away from home.
With Wednesday’s victory, the Golden Knights have now recorded five of six possible points in their last three road games. The turnaround has come at just the right time, as Vegas will embark on a five-game East Coast road trip beginning next week.
Shots Shots Shots
There are no real padlock stats in hockey the way that there are in some other sports. But when you record almost twice as many shots on net as your opponent, that is generally a good sign.
Against the Ducks on Wednesday, the Golden Knights had 39 shots on goal, while Anaheim had just 24. While the Ducks were able to keep the game close thanks to an impressive showing by goaltender Lukas Dostal, ultimately, Vegas’s offensive onslaught was just too much for them to handle.
Power Play Delivers Again
It has been an incredible start to the season for Vegas’s power play.
Tomas Hertl’s second period tally marked the fourth consecutive game that Vegas scored on the man advantage. Through 16 games, the Golden Knights have scored on 32.6% of their power play opportunities. That is good for second in the league, behind only the Winnipeg Jets.
If this team can continue to draw penalties, good things will continue to happen.
