Three takeaways from the Golden Knights victory over the Oilers - Vegas Hockey Now

Let’s take a look at three takeaways from the Golden Knights’ 4-2 victory over the Oilers in Edmonton Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Oilers 4-2 in Edmonton. Let’s take a look at three takeaways from the victory.

The Streak is Over!

At long last, the streak is over. The Golden Knights have finally won a road game!

Entering Wednesday evening, Vegas was an impressive 8-0-0 at home on the 2024-2025 season. However, they had yet to record a win away from the Sin City, going 0-3-1 in their first four road games.

It took nearly a month, but the Golden Knights now finally have a win on the road. After a trip to Seattle on Friday, they will look to keep their perfect home record intact when they return to T-Mobile Arena next week.

Incomplete Game

Prior to the game, Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy said that he wanted to see his team play a full 60 minutes of good hockey.

Alas, he had to settle for 40.

Vegas controlled both the first and third periods. In the second period, however, Edmonton was the better team, outscoring the Golden Knights 2-0.

The Golden Knights will obviously take the win, but they still have plenty of work to do towards playing more complete games.

Hanafin the Hero

When the Golden Knights needed a hero, it was Noah Hanafin who stepped up. With the Oilers leading 2-1 with under 10 minutes remaining in the game, the 27 year-old defenseman tied the game on the power play. Then, with less than a minute to play in regulation, Hanafin scored the game-winner.

After recording no goals and just three assists in the team’s first 11 games, Hanafin has been on fire to start the month of November. In the prior game Saturday against Utah, Hanafin had a goal and two assists.

Up Next

Up next, the Golden Knights head to Seattle to take on the Kraken Friday night. Puck drop in the Pacific Northwest is set for 7:00 PM PST.
