Top Rangers Defenseman Undergoes Unexpected Surgery: Status for Next Season Revealed
The status of one of the New York Rangers' top defensemen for next season has been revealed after he underwent unexpected surgery.
After a disastrous season, the New York Rangers were expected to make several changes. While they started strong by replacing Pete Laviolette with Mike Sullivan behind the bench, more is expected from General Manager Chris Drury in the offseason.
One of the items on the GM's to-do list will be dealing with his restricted free agents. Notably, Will Cuylle, Matt Rempe, and K'Andre Miller will need new contracts for the start of the next season.
With all the offer sheet rumors this year, the Rangers will need to lock them down fast to avoid such a scenario-especially in K'Andre Miller's case, who plays an important role on the Rangers' blue line.
The coming offseason will be crucial for Miller, and a new development won't make things easier for him.
K'Andre Miller Undergoes Unexpected Surgery
A new report confirmed that Miller sustained an upper-body injury toward the end of the season that required surgery. He is expected to be recovered in time for the start of the next season.
Miller opened up on his situation in a recent interview:
'I think there's been uncertainty throughout my whole career. You know, it's part of the job. My first time going through it, so it's a little different. But, like I said, I love New York. I wouldn't want to play anywhere else right now.''Kind of hard to talk about my future here, obviously. I have a great agent that is going to help me throughout this summer's process. I love being a New York Ranger. I think this has been some of the best years of my life. These last five years have been unforgettable in about every aspect you can think of.'
