Trade Proposal Sends Bengals' Trey Hutchinson to NFC Contender Amid Contract Dispute

Cincinnati Bengals' pass rusher Trey Hendrickson is the subject of a recent trade proposal by an NFL analyst.

The Cincinnati Bengals have a potentially ugly situation on their hands.

Star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson is entering the final year of his contract with the Bengals after he signed a one-year, $21 million extension two offseasons ago.

The two parties are reportedly far apart on a new deal, and Hendrickson has missed all of the offseason workouts.

"The Bengals and Trey Hendrickson are talking again, but they're not any further along," NFL insider Adam Schefter told The Pat McAfee Show. "I think there's a disagreement over value and there's also a disagreement over the length of the deal. They can't even find common ground on the length of the deal."

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes the team should move Hendrickson in a proposed deal with the Detroit Lions.

"The Lions released [Za'Darius] Smith this offseason. Bringing him back or acquiring another pass rusher via free agency or trade—Trey Hendrickson looms as a top trade target—would be wise," Knox wrote.

The combination of Trey Hendrickson and Aidan Hutchinson could create one of the best pass-rushing combinations in recent memory.

Over a 110-game career, Hendrickson has posted 220 total tackles with 151 solo and 71 for loss. He's added 77 sacks, including 17.5 in each of the past two seasons. He's registered 15 passes defended and 14 forced fumbles.

He's made the Pro Bowl in all four seasons since arriving from New Orleans, where he was the No. 103 overall pick in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Florida Atlantic.
