Treylon Burks catches major compliment from DeAndre Hopkins after Titans OTA practice

Treylon Burks and DeAndre Hopkins are a part of an incredibly talented wide receiver room for the Tennessee Titans. Heading into Year 3, Burks is hoping to finally turn the gifts that made him a first-round pick into more than just potential.

His first two seasons have been de-railed by multiple injuries and concussions.

Burks projects to be a back-up to Hopkins and free-agent signing Calvin Ridley as things stand right now. Tennessee also brought Tyler Boyd in last week to reunite the former Cincinnati Bengal with his former offensive coordinator, new Titans coach Brian Callahan. While neither the general manager nor the coach that drafted Burks in 2022 are still employed by the team, count Hopkins among the believers in the young wide out.

"Treylon's one of the most athletic people I've ever played with," said Hopkins after Tuesday's OTA work. "As big as he is and as fast as he is. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does this year."

Hopkins also sprang to the defense of Burks during and after his Tuesday Titans press conference. Hopkins was asked if people outside of the building were "sleeping on Burks", which resulted in a clever answer from the WR on the mic and on Twitter.

Burks has appeared in 22 out of a possible 34 games since being drafted by Tennessee with the No. 18 overall pick. In 2023, he posted a paltry 16 catches for 221 yards and did not catch a single touchdown reception. Burks' body has continually betrayed him in his efforts to contribute to the Titans offense, causing him to miss time in three separate stints last season.

Burks went through Callahan's practice routine on Tuesday with plenty of encouragement and pointers from Ridley, who was active and vocal with every one of his receiver teammates throughout the course of the day.

Having Burks as depth puts Tennessee in a great spot to make an impact down the stretch once regular season play begins. With Hopkins deal set to expire next March and Boyd on a one-year deal, there is still plenty of hope for Burks' present and future with the Titans.
