Two surprising players have been placed on waivers including Alex Barré-Boulet

We just had a surprise on the waiver wire. The Montreal Canadiens have placed forward Alex Barré-Boulet on NHL waivers.

Yes, it's a surprise.

See the official statement from the organization confirming the news.

The Canadiens have placed forward Alex Barré-Boulet on waivers for the purpose of a loan to the Laval Rocket.

Barré-Boulet is not alone.

Alex Barré-Boulet and Ville Husso on Waivers

Goaltender Ville Husso, from the Detroit Red Wings, is also currently available on waivers.

Details will follow, but it's unfortunate news for Barré-Boulet, who had a strong training camp.

It certainly looks like Emil Heineman and Oliver Kapanen are in Montreal for good.

They seem to have surpassed Barré-Boulet and Joshua Roy in the Canadiens' hierarchy.

Barré-Boulet has already proven he's far too good for the AHL, so if he clears waivers, he would be quite the addition for Pascal Vincent and the Laval Rocket.

We're talking about 19 points in 23 games, 84 points in 69 games, and 63 points in 58 games over his last three AHL seasons. (for ABB in the AHL)

His affordable $897,500 contract might tempt some teams to take a chance on him.

This will definitely be a case to watch closely, and we will have the answer tomorrow at 2:00 PM.
