The Red Sox scratched Tyler O’Neill from their lineup Friday because of left fourth finger inflammation.

The initial lineup had O’Neill playing left field and batting fifth. Rob Refsnyder will take spot both in left and in the fifth spot. Boston will host the Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m. here at Fenway Park.

O’Neill is batting .262 with a .351 on-base percentage, .524 slugging percentage, .875 OPS, 22 homers, 16 doubles, 46 RBIs, 60 runs, 40 walks and 117 strikeouts in 84 games (359 plate appearances) for Boston this season.
The Red Sox activated O’Neill from the 10-day injured list Aug. 17 after he missed 12 games with a left leg infection that hospitalized him. He also missed nine games earlier this year with right knee inflammation and six games because of a concussion.
