The New Orleans Saints have one of the most passionate and beloved fan bases in the entire NFL. With that, the city rallies behind the culture they've built to help fuel their love for their favorite football team.
Recently, a young Saints player went to bat for New Orleans in a way that plenty of folks will appreciate. It also went a bit viral on social media.
Tyler Shough defends New Orleans food
In a podcast appearance with Amon-Ra and Equanimeous St. Brown, Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough took a comical shot at Equanimeous, who is a former wide receiver for New Orleans. It was because the NFL brothers downplayed food in New Orleans.
The brothers commented that the food was overrated in New Orleans, and Shough quickly came to its defense. He mentioned that the disrespect of New Orleans food may be part of the reason that Equanimeous is no longer on the Saints roster.
In reality, St. Brown just couldn't beat out other options to rise up the WR depth chart for New Orleans. That being said, this comment from Shough got plenty of laughs on social media and endeared him further with the fan base immediately.
Tyler Shough contract situation
Quarterback Tyler Shough remains the only rookie for the Saints that hasn't inked his rookie contract with the team yet. That should not be a surprise, though. Spotrac notes that most of the 2025 second-round picks have not been signed as of yet.
Also Unsigned? Every 2nd Rd pick not named Carson Schwesinger & Jayden Higgins, both of whom received fully guaranteed contracts, sending the round into disarray.

Shough and other second-rounders are most likely vying for more guaranteed money. That's been a consistent topic when it comes to rookie deals in m multiple rounds.
As a quarterback, it is possible that Shough holds a bit more leverage with New Orleans, compared to some other positions around the NFL. Regardless, I'd expect a deal to get done sooner rather than later.
The rookie quarterback has been quite involved in the community and practiced consistently with his teammates since he was drafted by the Saints at 40th overall. Shough and Spencer Rattler remain locked into a starting QB competition for Kellen Moore's first season as head coach.
