The Real Housewives of New York Season 15 hasn’t even premiered yet and already there is trouble in the Big Apple. It seems that Brynn Whitfield and Ubah Hassan are having some hurdles of their own. Ubah had her own set of issues last year when she fought with Erin Lichy after what felt like a harmless joke. The outbursts showed that Ubah wasn’t perfect and could be riled up.
As for Brynn, well, our single gal was trouble from the start. Not in a bad way, just in an “I’m going to keep my eye on you” way. She loved flirting with the wives’ husbands and didn’t seem too upset when she was called out for it. However, the new season is going to show Ubah and Brynn butting heads. But what could these two possibly have to fight about?
What’s wrong with Dressbarn?
In the Season 15 RHONY trailer, neither Ubah nor Brynn is seen holding back. Both seem to be going full force at one another. The model and socialite are bringing their A-game when it comes to the fight, as the cameras highlight their disdain for one another.
One of the comments that caught viewers’ attention was Brynn yelling at Ubah that she “only models for Dressbarn.” The comment came right off the back of Brynn also calling the model “delusional.” Ubah wasted no time in taking to her Instagram Story to clap back, noting “Just to clarify, my @Dressbarn day-rate could easily cover six months of her cheap, no-view apartment rental. xoxo Ubah.” Brynn has a way of digging at people’s biggest insecurities. So it makes sense that Ubah would take offense at not being compared to Tyra Banks or Naomi Campbell.
Ubah Hassan needs to work on her insults
In New York City, pigeons are often referred to as flying rats. So when I heard Ubah call the entire cast “pigeons,” I knew it wasn’t going to be good. The trailer showed Ubah clapping back. The model yelled, “Everyone here is a pigeon. You’re the biggest pigeon ever,” and demanded she “Google [her] name.” During their fight, Brynn keeps yelling, “You’re not Naomi! You’re not Giselle!” Ubah replied, “Naomi wish. Giselle wish.”
I’m not sure what the offense is to call a person a pigeon, but historically, pigeons have been symbolic of fertility and prosperity, fortune, luck, and transformation. But Ubah has another agenda. The model could have been hinting at the fact that the entire cast has been spreading gossip like a carrier pigeon delivers mail. However, the meaning of the insult is unclear. It honestly looks like this season has gone to the birds.
Was Ubah the catalyst?
In September, Sai De Silva shared with Page Six that Ubah was the instigator of the feud. At the time, the influencer noted, “Ubah’s the catalyst. I think what happened is because of Ubah. No one saw that coming, did they?” Ubah hinted that she was the pot stirrer when it came to the drama between Brynn and Sai. Season 14 showed the best friends having a falling out on Brynn’s birthday after Sai felt the trust had been broken. Sai shared, “We had a bit of tension toward the end of filming, and there were just some things that I kind of told her that I wish she wouldn’t have said.” And it looks like Ubah saw her chance to wiggle in and took it. During the interview, Ubah blushed, adding, “I texted Sai, ‘Thank you for taking it for the team.’”
Both Brynn and Ubah are happier than ever in their own lives. Ubah’s relationship with Mr Conneticut is going well. And Brynn has moved into her dream apartment with her puppy, Sugar. With the new Real Housewives of New York premiering on October 1st, I hope the women can get to the bottom of their issues. But if all else fails, I’m sure Sugar wouldn’t mind chasing a few pigeons away.
