Unbelievable. I am stunned. I shouldn’t be stunned, because we know how good this team is. But I guess I just wasn’t expecting HOW that one ended.
With the Cubs down two in the bottom of the 9th, Carson Kelly and Dansby Swanson reached, Moises Ballesteros bounced into a fielder’s choice, and then Nico Hoerner – on his birthday – singled to get the Cubs to within one.
That’s when Justin Turner, who’d pinch-hit earlier in the game, came to the plate. Great time for his FIRST extra-base hit of the season, a walk-off double:
