‘Vanderpump Rules’ Executive Producer Teases New ‘Messy and Complicated’ Dynamics as 1st Teaser Drops

Raise your glasses high because Vanderpump Rules is coming back sooner than fans may think.

“It’s not too far away,” the Bravo show’s executive producer Alex Baskin told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Thursday, July 24. “And I would say that there is a lot of dating within the group, a lot of hookups within the group. The friendships are deep. It’s messy and complicated and really fun.”

While the cast and a premiere date have yet to be officially announced, Bravo surprised fans on Friday, July 25, with the first teaser for season 12.

“New shift. Same rules,” the network wrote via Instagram with a short clip featuring Lisa Vanderpump. “#PumpRules Season 12 shakes things up soon🍸.”

If Baskin’s instincts are correct, any skepticism from loyal fans will be gone once the show premieres.

“I can’t wait for it to drop, and I can’t wait for the skepticism to melt away and take the form of enjoyment,” he said. “I am so excited for the audience to watch a series that has a lot of the hallmarks of the original but feels completely different.”

Earlier this summer, cameras caught several possible cast members, including Demyana Selem and Jason Cohen, filming the new season. Camera crews were also spotted at Vanderpump’s annual World Dog Day celebration in West Hollywood this past May.

According to Baskin, the upcoming season will look and feel different from previous seasons.

“We are not trying to make the series that we did the first time around, and it’s sort of got back to the basic principles of that show, which is falling around a group of interconnected coworkers and friends at SUR,” he explained. “And, this group just happens to be very different — they’re the 2025 version. So you see it’s Gen Z and their relationships to each other, to the world, are very different, but it still has all of the really fun, juicy ingredients.”

The Vanderpump Rules franchise initially began in 2013 as a spinoff of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Scheana Shay, Katie Maloney, Tom Sandoval, Kristen Doute, Jax Taylor and Stassi Schroeder all deserve credit for helping to launch one of Bravo’s biggest hit series.

In November 2024, however, the network announced that an entirely new cast would take over after 11 seasons.

“I understand the skepticism,” Baskin shared. “I know that to the audience, this feels like an exercise in putting forward an imposter, but I really would encourage everyone to stick with us and give us a chance, because I think they’re going to be won over. I think they’re going to see that the show naturally came together, because, again, we didn’t force together a group that didn’t exist, and it’s a lot of fun, and it really captures the life stage that we saw in the early days of Vanderpump Rules and as opposed to the later life stage [in the later seasons].”

Past seasons of Vanderpump Rules are available to stream now on Peacock.
