Vanderpump Rules Star Laughs Off Charlie Burnett’s Latest SUR Claims

Charli Burnett Blows Away Vanderpump Rules In Super Tiny String Bikinis

Charli Burnett is facing pushback after claiming she never actually worked at SUR Restaurant—despite what fans saw on “Vanderpump Rules.” Her comments, made during a recent podcast appearance, drew sharp criticism from viewers and SUR manager Peter Madrigal, who called her out, commenting, “What is she talking about?”

Now, Madrigal and Bravo fans alike are lining up to dispute Burnett’s version of events, using their own experiences—and even one of her past tweets—to prove she did, in fact, work at Lisa Vanderpump’s iconic West Hollywood hotspot.

SUR Peter Madrigal and ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Fans Push Back on Burnett’s Claims

On the May 6 episode of the “Trying to Figure It Out” podcast, Burnett insisted she was never an actual server at SUR, claiming her appearances on the show were completely staged. “I would literally come in, do a fake shift, and leave,” she said, alleging that producers didn’t film during the restaurant’s regular hours because it was “just too chaotic.”

“Everything was planned,” she continued. “I would come in at like, before the rush, or before people came in, we would film three to five, and I would take fake orders, and then I would leave. But other people worked there. I didn’t.”

That claim didn’t sit well with Madrigal, who managed Burnett during her time on “Vanderpump Rules.” He fired back with a hilarious Instagram comment:

“What is she talking about? Am I going crazy? I literally remember telling her what section to take! Do I actually work at SUR lol I do. Unless it’s all a simulation and we’re in the matrix.”

Fans also challenged Burnett’s version of events. One person commented, “Girl you took my coworker and her mom’s order w/ NO CAMERAS anywhere [in sight]…. I’m confused Lol.” Another added, “You 100% worked there,” while a third accused her of exaggerating “because it’ll get headlines.”

A resurfaced tweet from Burnett herself also appeared to contradict her claim. In January 2022, she wrote:

“I wasn’t in the last episodes because of Covid outbreaks & unfortunately it kept happening to me because I was actually at SUR working. Which really sucked..”

Charlie Burnett Also Opened Up About Her Casting Backstory and Why She Walked Away

Despite the backlash, Burnett used the podcast to reflect on how she ended up on the Bravo hit in the first place. “I never worked at SUR. I wasn’t a server at SUR,” she repeated, before revealing that the show was originally pitched to her agency as a series about young actors in L.A.

“Then I got a call back, and then it turned into, ‘This is “Vanderpump Rules” and Lisa [Vanderpump] wants to meet you,’” she explained.

Burnett admitted she hadn’t seen the show before joining and felt completely unprepared. “That group was so established, and they also knew some of the new people. I was a complete, like, blind buddy… I didn’t know anybody. No one knew me.”

She said her “biggest regret” was not watching previous seasons before diving in. “I feel like I was a little lost in a lot of things I was doing. Also, I had nobody in my corner.”

Burnett ultimately chose to leave the show abruptly before filming another season. “I was getting on my way, ready to film… and I just, I backed out for some reason,” she said. “That situation really did trigger me in a lot of ways. I needed to take that step back from everyone and everything.”

She added that she muted every cast member after her exit, except Ariana Madix. “That relationship was not fake,” she said.

Burnett may have stepped out of the spotlight, but her latest claims have reignited questions about how real “Vanderpump Rules” really is—and whether she underestimated just how many people remembered her working the floor at SUR.

A “Vanderpump Rules” reboot is currently filming, but Bravo has yet to announce a premiere date.
