Brian Austin Green’s ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil is defending their son Kassius after receiving homophobic messages on social media. Kassius, 23, is openly gay and has the full support of both of his parents, but some of Marcil’s followers chose to criticize him via her DMs. Marcil fired back in a lengthy Instagram post after someone commented on her story that being gay is “a sin.”
“First of all I’m so sorry that you are so lonely & unhappy that you have to involve children in your self hatred, projection spirals but I promise you that my kid just feels sorry for you. He’s happy,” Marcil wrote.
She went on to praise Kassius, calling him “…the most decent, forgiving, kind, educated, talented, FREE, committed (with the same boyfriend for 8 years), self reflective, non judgmental, philanthropic…intellect.”
The Last Straw for Vanessa Marcil

Marcil’s post was not just a reaction to one person’s criticism, but seemed to be the last straw for the actor who said she was used to dealing with homophobic remarks about her son. Marcil wrote in the post’s caption that the commenter was “just one of many ‘Christian’ women who take time out of their thrilling day to tell me that my child is going to hell.”
She went on to speak about Christian values, emphasizing that the religion did not support the kind of judgement she and her son had been receiving. “Jesus warned against judging others, as we are all flawed. Gossip often involves judging others and can lead to conflict and division,” Marcil wrote.
Marcil concluded her post with some words directed at the commenter who set her off. “YOU are unfortunately going to have a real hard time getting into heaven, babe,” she wrote, adding, “But don’t worry…my son just said he’ll put in a good word for you with God!”
How Brian Austin Green has Supported Kassius
Luckily for Kassius, both of his parents have his back. During a 2023 appearance on the “Frosted Tips with Lance Bass” podcast, Brian Austin Green explained how he came to better understand his son. “…you realize, ‘Oh, this isn’t different at all.’ It’s just your choice of partner. It doesn’t affect me at all,” the actor explained.
Green, who is engaged to “DWTS” alum Sharna Burgess, also shared his feelings towards those who had an issue with Kassius being openly gay. “Why do you care so much? And why are you trying to somehow bully your feelings and your opinion into something that literally does not affect you at all?” he said.
