Veteran Denver Broncos player finally gets the respect he has earned from his peers across the NFL
The NFL is slowly releasing its Top 100 Players of 2025 list, and on Monday it was revealed that Denver Broncos defensive lineman Zach Allen came in at No. 90.
From NFL.com: "After six seasons, Allen has cracked the Top 100 list on the heels of his best-ever campaign. He made second-team All-Pro as a key piece of the NFL’s top sack-getting defense, which also allowed the third-fewest points. If Denver takes another step in 2025 following a surprise playoff appearance, Allen will again play a pivotal role. It also wouldn’t be surprising to see him improve upon his sack total, given the pressures he was racking up last season. Allen led all defensive tackles with 67 pressures in 2024, which tied for ninth among all pass rushers in the NFL. Allen was particularly successful against double teams, generating 14 of his 67 pressures in such matchups, tied for fifth in the NFL."
It's great to see Allen get his due. In 2024 he recorded a career-high 61 total tackles, along with 8.5 sacks. He also recorded a whopping 67 quarterback pressures, one safety, and one pass defensed.
Allen entered the league as a third-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. He battled through injuries during the first two years of his career before finding his footing. Allen signed with the Broncos in 2023 and had a solid season with 60 total tackles and five sacks.
He has spent his entire career in defensive coordinator Vance Joseph's system, dating back to their days together in Arizona. Allen is still in the prime of his career at 27-years-old and should give a good return should Denver decide to invest in him long-term. He has one year remaining on his current contract, and will be due a big payday if he has another great season.
