The Rangers have decided to send Victor Mancini down to the Hartford Wolf Pack in a move to help his development.
The New York Rangers have sent Victor Mancini down to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey league while calling up Chad Ruhwedel.
This comes after Mancini was placed as a healthy scratch for four consecutive games with Zac Jones taking his place.
Mancini played a total of nine games where he recorded one goal, one assist and two points while averaging 15;21 minutes.
With Jones playing well, there was really no room for Mancini in the lineup, so it’s better for his development to serve a big role in the AHL as opposed to watching Rangers games from the pressbox and getting little to no in-game experience.
The 22-year-old showed some impressive flashes through his short stint with the Rangers, but he still needs some time before truly blossoming into a regular NHL defenseman.
Mancini should take those steps with the Wolf Pack where he’ll be playing some big-time minutes.
