The New Orleans Saints got back on track this past Sunday with a narrow win over the rival Atlanta Falcons. Darren Rizzi got his first win as the Saints head coach after Dennis Allen's firing.
Guys rallied around Rizzi during the game, and the team looked notably more determined and prepared against a talented Falcons team. There's a reason they are in first place in the NFC South.
Saints locker room
After their win against the Falcons, it was quite the scene in the Saints locker room. Players were ecstatic, and new head coach Darren Rizzi was right in the middle of all of the celebration.
You can see the bond that Rizzi has with the players, both young and veteran. They appreciate his nature and attention to detail. Rizzi has been holding players accountable since the move to HC, and players are taking notice.
Game balls
Alvin Kamara and Darren Rizzi both got game balls from the victory. That being said, Rizzi made one thing crystal clear after the Week 10 matchup. He felt that everyone involved in the win deserved a game ball, from top to bottom.
"The entire building is getting a game ball this week." -- Rizzi
We will see if the hype and community around the Saints transitions to more wins over the latter half of the 2024 season.
If that occurs, New Orleans will have to take a long and hard look at keeping Rizzi as their next head coach in the long-term. Only time will tell.
