When Vurgess Jones had a question about game day, she didn’t have to look far — Elaine Jefferson already had the answer. The mother of star WR Justin Jefferson, Elaine has become the heart of the “Vikings Moms,” an unofficial but deeply connected group that supports each other and their sons both on and off the field.
Elaine coordinates everything from sideline passes to group outings and makes sure rookie moms are welcomed with open arms. “Our sons are like brothers in the locker room, so we decided to be like family, too,” Elaine said.
Vurgess, mom to RB Aaron Jones, and Teri Hockenson, mom to TE T.J. Hockenson, quickly found that Elaine’s warmth was real. From the moment Aaron and T.J. joined the team, their families were embraced by this special community.
Teri recalls the early days of tossing the football with T.J. in their yard and watching him get tough love from his older brothers. Today, she cheers him on every Sunday with tears in her eyes. “It’s emotional watching them run out of that tunnel,” she said.
For Vurgess, the bond she shares with Aaron is rooted in shared service, kindness, and community impact. “Giving back has always been our joy,” she shared.
At the core of the Vikings Moms’ connection is a deep sense of unity. Whether they’re swapping stories in a text thread or hugging on the sidelines, they celebrate each other’s sons like their own.
“They’re not just teammates — they’re family. And so are we,” Elaine said. “If one of them needs a hug, needs a meal, or just needs support — we’re all there. That’s what makes it so special.”
