The Minnesota Vikings have announced their 2025 schedule and there are a lot of interesting elements surrounding it.
Quarterback J.J. McCarthy is set to make his National Football League debut this year in week one when they travel to Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears. What's really interesting is that the game will be on Monday Night Football.
We will be diving into a lot of different angles with the schedule over the next few days, but it wasn't just the regular season that got announced.
Vikings preseason schedule announced
In conjunction with the regular season schedule, the Vikings have also released their preseason schedule.
- Saturday, August 9th: vs. Houston Texans
- Saturday, August 16th: vs. New England Patriots
- Friday, August 22nd: @ Tennessee Titans
It's a really interesting group of teams, especially from a quarterback perspective. They all have young, talented quarterbacks with C.J. Stroud, Drake Maye, and this year's first overall pick Cam Ward. The Vikings might not see any of them during the games, but they should see a lot of Maye.
The Vikings are primed to have a joint practice with the New England Patriots, something that head coach Mike Vrabel alluded to at the owners meetings.
The other interesting element the Vikings currently have at their disposal is the development of McCarthy. Usually, young quarterbacks get time during the preseason to get reps and continue their development. With McCarthy only having one preseason game under his belt, how much time wit the get to play?
It's especially interesting considering that McCarthy tore his meniscus in the only preseason game he played in last year. Will the Vikings choose to be cautious wit hhim or get those valuable reps?
Overall, the Vikings should be in a good spot to have some meaningful reps throughout August.
