The Minnesota Vikings are likely planning to be without star wide receiver Jordan Addison for a sizeable portion of the 2025 season.
Likewise, Addison is likely bracing for a decent-sized suspension from the NFL pending the results of his court case for his July 2024 DUI arrest.
Addison’s trial was originally set for Tuesday at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Courthouse, but it appears his “pretrial hearing” got pushed back to Thursday, according to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.
It’s not known what the delay is for Addison, but Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio ventured a guess.
“It could be (and this is just an example) that there’s some unresolved issue of evidence that the judge decided to address at a standalone hearing before the trial begins,” Florio reported.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Addison is looking at a three-game suspension, at minimum. Three games is the baseline suspension for violations to the NFL’s substance abuse policy when laws are broken involving alcohol. He could face an even lengthier suspension depending on the outcome of his legal situation.
Addison, who logged 63 catches, 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games last season, pleaded not guilty back on Dec. 3 to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol while having a blood-alcohol level of 0.08% or higher.
The 23-year-old wideout was arrested on July 12 of last year. He was found asleep in his Rolls Royce shortly before midnight, and his vehicle was blocking traffic near LAX airport. Addison was booked into the local jail and released two hours later.
Vikings’ training camp begins on July 27. While Addison’s suspension would start Week 1 of the regular season, he might still be able to practice with the team during training camp.
For comparison, former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season but the NFL cleared him to practice during camp and play during the preseason.
