Walking Dead actor joins cast of three series in 2025, including season 3 of Tulsa King

   

Paramount+ is gearing up for a third season of the Sylvester Stallone-led Tulsa King. Stallone portrays mafia member Dwight "The General" Manfredi, who, after serving a prison sentence, is sent to Tulsa by his boss. Recently, Walking Dead actor Jayson Warner Smith, who portrayed Gavin, announced his inclusion in the upcoming season of Tulsa King, as well as Hulu's Murdaugh Murders, and Peacock's The Good Daughter.

Tulsa King is a series created for Paramount+ by Taylor Sheridan, of Yellowstone fame. The third season of the series features another Walking Dead universe tie-in, as Fear the Walking Dead creator, Dave Erickson, has joined the series as showrunner.

The series follows Manfredi, an American Mafia capo, after he is exiled from New York to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he is instructed to begin a new life. He quickly meets many interesting people, several of whom he employs, while many others become fast enemies.

Smith will portray Walden Eustice, an Oklahoma City liquor distributor, in season 3 of Tulsa King. He finds himself mixed up in the turf war between Manfredi and Jeremiah Dunmire, portrayed by TWD guest star Robert Patrick.

Tulsa King also features the talents of Martin Starr, Jay Will, Annabella Sciorra, Neal McDonough, Frank Grillo, with Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany. With several actors being promoted to series regulars for season 3, including e Chris Caldovino, McKenna Quigley Harrington, and Mike "Cash Flo" Walden.

Smith will also join the yet-to-be-titled Hulu limited series, which focuses on the Murdaugh Murders, the stranger-than-fiction account of Maggie and Alex Murdaugh and their family. Smith will portray Bruce Dinwiddle, who is based on Alex Murdaugh's best friend and banker, Richard Lafitte.

The actor has been cast alongside the previously announced Jason Clarke as Alex Murdaugh, Patricia Arquette as Maggie Murdaugh, J. Smith-Cameron as Marian Proctor, Johnny Berchtold as Paul Murdaugh, Brittany Snow as Mandy Matney, and Will Harrison as Buster Murdaugh.

The series utilizes the hours of countless reporting by Mandy Matney, creator of the popular Murdaugh Murders Podcast to tell the tale. Matney, a journalist, has spent years following the details of the case giving her exclusive, insider knowledge. Michael D. Fuller, who co-created the series with Erin Lee Carr, will serve as showrunner.

Smith has also been cast in the Peacock series The Good Daughter, which stars Rose Byrne and Meghan Fahy as sisters, Charlotte and Samantha Quinn. The story is based on Karin Slaughter's suspenseful crime novel that follows the sisters whose lives were deeply impacted by one night of violence 28 years earlier. Events take a turn when Charlotte is the first witness on the scene of another attack in their small town of Pikeville.

Smith has been cast in a guest starring role as Sheriff Keith Coin, and Brendan Gleeson, Olivia Williams, Michael Dorman, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Drew Cheek also star.

Smith is represented by The Alexander White Agency in Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta. He is well known for his roles as Gavin in The Walking Dead and Atlanta Police Chief Jenkins on Peacock's Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. Don't miss the award-winning short, Chipper of which Smith executive produced and starred.
