Watch: Ashley Darby Sings Roberta Flack’s Killing Me Softly

It’s never a slow news day in Washington DC, but still, the folks at Fox 5 found time to have Ashley Darby from The Real Housewives of Potomac come on set to sing “Killing Me Softly” by Roberta Flack. It’s a five-minute clip that is absolutely worth every second of your time.

Ashley Darby pays tribute to Roberta Flack by singing Killing Me Softly on FOX 5

RHOP fans know that Ashley has been aspiring to sing for years. She dropped her single Coffee & Love back in 2018 and performed the song on Good Morning Washington. In RHOP Season 9, she teased her new single Healing & Thriving.

This week, the songstress appeared on Fox 5 to perform a cover of Roberta’s iconic song, Killing Me Softly. Accompanied by a full band and three extremely brave backup vocalists, Ashley sang her heart out. An image of Roberta, who passed away on February 24, 2025, hovered behind Ashley in the background. We can’t help but wonder what she would have said about this performance.

After Ashley finished her song, she promoted an upcoming charity event where she’ll be doing this in front of a live audience. It’s all going down on April 5 at a legendary DC venue called Mr. Henry’s. The nightclub served as a launching pad for Roberta and other DC-based artists.

In the Fox 5 studio, Ashley was accompanied by her two sons, Dean and Dylan. They jumped into her arms at the end of the performance, which was super sweet. Those two are definitely going to be leading the Ashley Darby Fan Club, and she said she felt proud to have performed in front of them.

“It’s more than I can even put into words,” the RHOP star began. “For them to see me doing something that I love, I’m hoping that they really feel inspired to pursue their dreams, too.”

Real Housewives of Potomac is streaming on Peacock. You can also catch Ashley on Bravo’s Love Hotel, which premieres on Sunday, April 27 at 9/8c.
