The Yankees finally got back on the scoreboard with a couple of home runs after three straight shutouts, but their biggest bopper continues to come up empty.
Aaron Judge extended his first true statistical slump of the season by going hitless in four at-bats in the Yankees’ 3-2 loss to the Angels at the Stadium — and their season-high sixth in a row overall.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Cody Bellinger went deep to finally end the Yankees’ string of 30 consecutive scoreless innings, but Judge is now mired in a 3-for-28 skid to drop his batting average for the season to .366 from .396 early last week.
Judge also struck out twice more, giving him 19 K’s in his past eight games.
“It’s baseball. You hit two balls hard today, and you don’t get rewarded for it. So it’s, like I said, I gotta show up tomorrow and just do my job. That’s about it,” Judge said. “Guys are making pitches. They’re doing their job.
“Sometimes we’re faltering and not doing our job. It’s tough to say, but like I said, I think it just comes down to us not executing, us not doing our job, maybe a little passive in certain situations. But all we can do is show up tomorrow and be aggressive and be ready to go.”
With the Yankees trailing 3-2 in the eighth after the Angels had gone ahead on an Anthony Volpe error in the top half, Judge came up with two runners aboard and a chance to tie the score or take the lead.

But No. 99 flied out to deep center field on the first pitch he saw against righty reliever Connor Brogdon for the second out.
Jasson Domínguez advanced to third on the play, but the Yanks did not score as Bellinger fouled out to third to end the threat.
Aaron Judge, who went 0-for-4, grounds out in the fourth inning of the Yankees’ loss to the Angels.
Judge also struck out in the first and sixth innings against Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz, sandwiched around a groundout leading off the fourth.
“Is it, though?” Aaron Boone responded when asked about his captain’s slump. “Monday night he hit two rockets and had a couple walks and he goes 0-fer and it’s a slump.
“Maybe he’s missed a couple pitches. I mean, it’s a hard game. I don’t know if I see it that way. He’s not gonna get two hits every day, week on week on week. It happens. He’ll continue to make adjustments like he always does, like he’s always doing when he’s going really well. When he hits a rough patch he’ll continue to do that. “
