As we get closer to May, we know that our favorite shows will wrap for another season. The Chicago PD season 12 finale is getting closer, but NBC hasn’t officially confirmed when the episode will air. This is disappointing when it comes to needing to figure out schedules to make sure we can watch episodes live.
The good news is we can work out when the finale is likely to air. This is based on the episode count and the usual time of the month this series comes to an end. We’ll know more closer to the time, especially if there is a decision to put another week break in the schedule.
There are four episodes of Chicago PD season 12 left
Including tonight’s all-new episode, there are four episodes in the season left. Yes, we really are getting closer to the finale, and at least we have a full season of episodes this year. It’s been some time since we’ve had 22 episodes.
If there are no more breaks in the schedule, the it means the finale will air on Wednesday, May 14. However, I do expect there to be one more break in the schedule. So, with that in mind, I’m saying that the Chicago PD season 12 finale will air on Wednesday, May 21.
This later date is more in line with previous finales. The season 11 finale aired on May 22, while the season 10 finale aired on May 24 — both Wednesday nights. NBC likes to put the finales on as close to the end of May as possible, and this makes sense as May is a big month for the Neilsen ratings collection.
What to expect in the Chicago PD season 12 finale
At this point in time, we have minimal details about the finale episode. We are expecting to see the long-awaited Burgess/Ruzek wedding, as we know the two are planning it and there was a hint that it would arrive in the finale.
We’re also expecting to see the big ending to the Deputy Chief Reid situation. Chapman is currently working with Voight to find a way to bring him down, but we really don’t expect that arc to end before the finale. A finale episode is where season-long storyline closure comes.
At the time of writing this, we’re still waiting on a renewal, but we’re expecting to see Chicago PD season 13 happen.
