Season 13 of Chicago Fire has been jam-packed with excitement as paramedic Lyla "Lizzie" Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) settles in as a permanent member of the Firehouse 51 crew.
Find out why Novak is missing from Firehouse 51 on Season 13, Episode 18 ("Post Mortem"), below.

Where was Lizzie Novak on Chicago Fire this week? April 16, 2025
Novak didn't get in on the Firehouse 51 action because she picked up a shift at a neighboring firehouse with her Paramedic In Charge, Violet. Fans caught wind of the paramedics' absence after Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) returned to 51 following his recent stint in rehab. While catching up with his Lieutenant, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), Carver found out about Violet and Novak's whereabouts.
"We are happy to have you back in rotation," Stella told Carver. "Violet and Novak are bummed to miss you, but they're pulling a shift over at 90."
Jocelyn Hudon talks about joining the One Chicago family

"There's a lot of people who've been there for, like, 12 years. So I knew I'm not creating it with them, I'm joining something. So I was just there to experience it and just, like, ease myself into the group," Hudon told TV Line. "They were very receptive, and everyone's really nice, and I think the best thing about the cast is everyone is so funny, and no one takes anything too seriously. That's how I exist, as well."
"So I think I fit in pretty quickly because I make jokes a lot and have a sense of humor. So I think we meshed very quickly," Hudon explained before gushing over her Fire co-star, Greensmith. "And then working with Hanako, we're very similar. We're weird, we're funny, we're serious. We get along really well. So that partnership between those two characters is just authentic because that's truly us when we work together."
Find out what happens to Novak next by watching Chicago Fire on Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
