The former friend of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Shamea Morton, has come in hot, in all the good ways. She is singing her way into viewers’ hearts as she opens up about her hardships. Fans learned early on that she was close friends with Porsha Williams in high school. But there is more to Shamea than just being a sidekick. She now has a beautiful family and is looking forward to the future. However, on the most recent episode, she opened up about her first husband. Here’s what we know.
Not much is known about Shamea’s first husband, King Solomon Smallwood Jr. You’d think with a name like that, he’d be easy to track down. According to the Real Housewives of Atlanta star’s IMDb, the duo were married from 2009 until September 16, 2010, when they divorced. After your girl here kicked into her Nancy Drew gear, she was able to find a little bit of info on King Solomon. He is Atlanta-based, born and raised. King Solomon graduated from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, with a degree in accounting, according to Lipstick Alley.
He founded his own company and is the CEO of Financial Management LLC. However, according to the Georgia Corporations Division, it could be because he merged his company into Provident Financial Management. Essentially, King is a music manager. He’s worked with names like Usher, Outkast, Chris Brown, and Justin Bieber. He was also named one of the top 25 Business Managers in the country by The Hollywood Reporter. Solomon, who is now the managing director of Provident Financial Management, was also named a top manager by Billboard in 2018 and 2019.
Shamea and King Solomon parted ways in 2009. The court dockets showed that King Solomon was the one who filed for divorce at the Fayette County, Georgia Superior Court. A review of the case docket showed that the divorce may have been acrimonious. It showed a series of motions and countermotions filed by both parties. The couple did, in fact, have a prenuptial agreement. The legal documents showed that Shamea tried to fight the prenup, but Judge Tommy R. Hankinson did not rule in her favor. After another year, the pair reached a divorce settlement in 2010.
The documents show that the final judgment and divorce decree were granted on September 16, 2010. The estranged couple asked the court to keep the records sealed, but the judge denied their motion.
Shamea hasn’t talked much about her first marriage. It very much feels like she was in a different place in her life. Now she has a thriving career of her own and is working on having a son with her husband.
Shamea has since moved on and is now happily married to Gerald Mwangi. Viewers watched on the most recent episode the Real Housewives of Atlanta as he took his daughter to the doctor while Shamea was on the girls’ trip.
The couple has been together for over 10 years after meeting in October 2014. They tied the knot in 2017. We earlier reported that Gerald was born in 1962 in Nyami, Central Kenya. The father of two is 63 years old, but the age difference doesn’t seem to bother the 43-year-old triple threat. He attended the University of Nairobi, earning his Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Gerald moved to the United States in the early 1990s. It was here he studied Construction Engineering Management at East Carolina University, Greenville. It is clear that Shamea is smitten with her hubby. In a confessional, she shared their meet-cute story. She joked that even though she “blew up his bathroom” after their dinner, Gerald still asked her out on a date.
“Hallelujah, thank you Jesus, this man accepted me for me and all of everything I did to that man’s bathroom,” Shamea said. “And we ain’t parted ways since that man loves me.”
