Why losing Lorenzo Carter shows Falcons' hand in draft

As NFL free agency rolls along, we also get closer to the 2025 NFL Draft. There may be indicators as to what direction a team would like to go in the draft, depending whether they sign someone, or let someone walk.
Two of the Atlanta Falcons’ recent moves are believed to be a direct indicator of what direction they are going to do in April’s draft.

The Falcons sign veteran Safety Jordan Fuller to a one-year contract, to pair with Jesse Bates III in the Falcons’ secondary. While this could mean that the Falcons may have slid The University of Georgia’s Malachi Starks down their draft board, he probably does not slide too far, as both Bates and Fuller are only under contract for the 2025 season. A more telling contract signing for the Falcons draft potential draft status may have been the signing of former Falcons linebacker Lorenzo Carter by the Tennessee Titans. While it has been suspected that the Falcons would draft a pass-rusher in this year’s draft, there should be no bigger indicator of this than the Falcons letting the home-town Carter walk. Randy McMichael and Abe Gordon chat with Falcon’s insider Joe Patrick on the recent free-agent signings by the Falcons, and where they can affect the 2025 roster.
