Why Luis Ruelas Encouraged Teresa Giudice to Apologize to Her Daughter Gia: The Story Behind It

The Real Housewives of New Jersey fans are divided on Luis Ruelas. Not just as Teresa Giudice’s husband. He’s also the stepfather to Teresa’s four “dorters.” Most certainly, his arrival into the family has changed the dynamic.

Luis presented himself on RHONJ as a peacemaker between his wife and her brother. So it warrants the thought that he would want to resolve conflict at home. Recently, Teresa’s eldest, Gia Giudice, confirmed that Luis offered advice when she and her mother were fighting.

Gia and Teresa recalled the recent event during the November 13 episode of the RHONJ star’s podcast, Turning The Tables.

The aspiring corporate lawyer said she was frustrated with Teresa. Gia had asked her mother to bring an overnight bag for a quick stay in New York. The bag contained clothes and a bottle of $28 body wash. Teresa had not checked the bottle. The cap was loose, and the liquid spilled all over Gia’s clothes.

The second generation RHONJ star suggested that her mother should have double-checked the cap before traveling with the bag. Teresa argued that Gia should have told her that the bottle was not fully closed.

“Why didn’t you tell me, ‘Ma, made sure the top is screwed on properly,’” Teresa said.

The duo engaged in an argument over text messages for a full half hour before Luis intervened. He convinced Teresa to apologize to Gia.

“Louis told you to say sorry to me because it was your fault!” she confirmed.

The RHONJ original star “did say sorry because [she] felt really bad” about what happened. And to make it up to Gia, Teresa bought “five bottles” of the same body wash.

Gia and Teresa had an honest conversation about her childhood

It’s a real and transparent conversation between mother and daughter who have bared it all on camera. In a September 2024 episode of Turning The Tables, Teresa apologized to Gia for being more strict with her than her younger sisters, Gabriella Giudice, 20, Milania Giudice, 18, and Audriana Giudice, 15.

“I just wanted to say sorry for being so strict with you. I was like a really strict parent. And then with your sisters, I wasn’t as strict because of all the legal stuff,” Teresa said referring the time that she and her ex-husband were jailed for mortgage fraud.Gia assured her mother that she “loved the way” she was raised. She added, “I grew up very disciplined. Very structured. And like, that’s how I’m literally going to raise my kids, like how you raised me.”
