Wһy Tһe Rаngers Re-Sіgned Cһаd Ruһwedel Desріte Benсһіng Hіm In Plаyoffs

Chad Ruhwedel didn't play very much last season for the Rangers, but still managed to get re-signed by New York.

That's The Maven's reaction to the Rangers re-signing Chad Ruhwedel to a one-year, two-way deal.

Why?

Because the Blueshirts' general staff should have inserted the 34-year-old defenseman into the lineup during the fateful playoffs.

Why?

Because by playoff time it was evident that both key blue liners Adam Fox and Jacob Trouba were hurting – later revealed after the club was eliminated from, the  postseason – and Chad would have helped.

That's why GM Chris Drury got him from the Penguins at the 2024 trade deadline in the first place.

As it now stands, Zac Jones will be the sixth defenseman with Ruhwedel being the S.O.S. replacement when another D-man is sidelined with injury.

But a lot can change between now and training camp; especially if the club somehow can figure out how to unload the suddenly-controversial Trouba.

Too bad Ruhwedel wasn't the defensive band-aid needed in the playoffs but that's only one of many reasons why the following didn't happen.

STANLEY CUP OR BUST! Sorry, busted again.
