Scheana Shay once saw herself marrying Eddie Cibrian. That was, until she learned he was married.
The Vanderpump Rules alum is sharing new insight into her 2006 affair with the actor, who was married to Brandi Glanville at the time, and revealed it was much more than just a physical relationship.
In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir My Good Side published by Entertainment Weekly on July 2, Scheana recalls the moment she met the Third Watch star after moving to Hollywood at 21 and landing a job at a private members cigar lounge Eddie frequented.
"If you were to ask me when I was growing up what my exact type was, to a tee it was Eddie—tall, dark, and handsome, with dimples," she wrote. "The second we made eye contact, he smiled at me with those dimples, and I melted. How could I not? He’s undeniably a gorgeous human."
As their flirtation heated up, Scheana noted, "Eddie was the sweetest, funniest, most charismatic, consummate gentleman I’d ever met." However, she never once thought he was married with a kid and another on the way.
"He never wore a wedding ring, so I assumed he was single," the Bravolebrity—who is now mom to 4-year-old daughter Summer Moon with husband Brock Davies—explained. "This was pre–social media, so it wasn’t like he was posting pics of his family in matching pajamas in front of a Christmas tree."
After the romance turned physical with a "weekly booty call," Scheana, 40, noted Eddie, 52, never made attempts to hide their relationship.
"We would go out together with our friends to get drinks, and then he would come back to my house, where we would hook up," the "Good as Gold" singer continued. "In hindsight, it was pretty brazen of him to be fully out in public with a bunch of single women while his wife and child were at home. I even remember one night when the paparazzi photographed us leaving Les Deux, a nightclub in Hollywood, and it was no big deal. It wasn’t like Eddie was freaking out that he’d been caught on camera with me."
By 2007, Eddie had even met Scheana's mother and helped the aspiring reality star move apartments.
"Did I think it was weird that I never went to his house? No!" she explained. "He lived in Calabasas, supposedly. And I certainly wasn’t making the trek to Calabasas in 2007, when Ubers didn’t exist, and I had less than $1,000 to my name."
"I didn’t see a single red flag," she recalled, "especially since we weren’t exclusive."
However, their dynamic began to unravel when a member at Scheana's workplace eventually told her Eddie was married. And while she didn't want to believe it, she finally confronted Eddie over text.
"I sent him a message saying, 'I have to ask, before we hang out tonight, does something belong on your ring finger?'' she wrote. "Writing, 'Are you married?' felt too accusatory, even though I now know that it would have been completely appropriate given the circumstances."
Eddie's reaction?
"Eddie acted like he didn’t understand exactly what I was getting at, so I posed the question straightforwardly," Scheana recounted. "And his answer was, 'No, that’s insane. Why would you ask me that?' It was gaslighting in its most basic form. Yet, I trusted him, so we continued hanging out."
