9-1-1 fans are obsessed with Buck and Eddie’s friendship and wonder if they’ll become more. Oliver Stark addressed the possible “Buddie” canon.

Will Buck and Eddie Fall In Love?
Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman represented 9-1-1 at the ABC Upfront. The actors discussed the fan theories about Buck and Eddie, respectively. The intense fanbase is hoping that their characters will explore a romantic relationship. However, the show never suggested that the men have romantic feelings for one another.During their chat, Stark and Guzman spoke to Deadline about “Buddie” becoming canon in Season 9. For them, it would have to happen organically. “What I will say is that if the story ever goes in that direction, I don’t think the way to do it is purely to give it into dance. I hope, if it goes there, it’s done because that’s the right story to tell and that’s the right progression for the characters,” Stark explained.
He doesn’t want the writers to go there to pacify the fans. It would have to make sense for their characters. “So I hope it’s not a case of giving in as much as that’s the natural progression for the story,” Stark noted. He’s aware that the fans would love the idea of Eddie and Buck becoming romantic, but it would have to be done right.
Buck and Eddie’s History
In Season 7, Buck came out as bisexual. He fell in love with Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr.). Currently, Eddie identifies as heterosexual. His sexuality was even brought up in a recent episode during Season 8. Guzman shared his thoughts on the future of their characters.“I think we have something so genuine with what we’ve already established. And I think Oliver’s character has said it multiple times. It’s like, why can’t we just be friends, brothers? I think right now it stands as it is,” Guzman said. However, the actor can see the fans’ perspective. He noticed that “they’ve created their own lore.” Because of this, there’s so much story to explore. “I see many different things. I see renditions of the show where it’s all of us like friends, characters, and stuff,” Guzman noted. What are your thoughts on Buck and Eddie becoming canon in Season 9?
