After sitting out of Season 33 of Dancing With the Stars, it might be a while until professional dancer Artem Chigvintsev returns to the ballroom, a source exclusively shares with Parade.
“He won’t be on Dancing With the Stars this season,” the insider says, “but he is working by teaching at conventions and things like that.”
Parade has reached out to representatives for Dancing With the Stars for comment and has attempted to reach Chigvintsev.
Chigvintsev last competed on the reality dance series during Season 32, when he was paired with The Bachelorette star Charity Lawson. The pair made it to the final and finished in fourth place. He made his DWTS debut as a pro on Season 19, when he was paired with Lea Thompson.
The source goes on to tell Parade that Chigvintsev and ex-wife Nikki Garcia are co-parenting their 4-year-old son “really, really well” more than eight months after finalizing their divorce. “It’s all about Matteo,” the source tells Parade.
Garcia, 41, and Chigvinstev first met after they were paired together on Season 25 of Dancing With the Stars in 2017. The pair confirmed their relationship via Instagram in 2019 after sparking romance rumors post-DWTS and made their red carpet debut later that year.
Garcia announced that she was expecting the couple’s first child together in January 2020.
“[It was] a total surprise,” she told People at the time. “It even took me a good week to come to terms with like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m pregnant.’ I’m not ready for it.”
The duo welcomed their son Matteo in July that year, and they tied the knot in August 2022.
In August 2024, Chigvintsev was arrested on accusations of corporal injury to a spouse. The following month, Garcia filed for divorce from the professional dancer.
Their divorce was finalized that November.
