Will Jordan Addison's off-field issues impact his Vikings future?

The Surprise Twist of Jordan Addison's Legal Fallout

Yahoo Sports' Jason Fitz and Caroline Fenton react to the news that the Vikings wide receiver will be suspended for the first three games of the 2025 season and what it could mean for his future with the franchise.

There is no better example right now of shame, in my opinion, Caroline, than the way Jordan Addison should feel today for his actions.

Because we're being realistic, in 2023, he was pulled over for reckless driving, 140 in a 55.

100, I'll say that again.

140 in a 55.

His license was revoked for six months.

He was arrested near LA on suspicion of a DUI, yeah, charged with two misdemeanors.

They played that down.

But yeah, we now have two vehicular incidents, one including a tremendous amount of speed and the other including a DUI, all within a year of each other for somebody that is sitting in the NFL right now with this much expectation and pressure on them, all of these things, making bad life decisions over and over again.

He's doing dumb stuff that hurts the team and we go.

Too fast and getting a DUI, it doesn't make Jordan Addison a bad person.

It just means that he's a person who's made bad decisions, but he's continued to make bad decision after bad decision after bad decision, and this abuse of the substance abuse policy is just the next chapter of dumb things that he's doing that hurts the team.

And he was asked if he was going to, you know, rebut the, the suspension from the NFL, he said, no, I'm, I'm, I'm gonna take it.

That's what somebody who did, in fact, break the rule says is, look, I got caught breaking the rules and I will take my punishment for breaking the rules.

Jordan Addison, he's going into his 3rd year in the league, and we now have 3 really legitimate things that he has done wrong that has hurt the team that has.

Caused him to miss time on the field.

If I'm the Vikings, and you're going into over the next couple of years, you're gonna have to make a decision about exercising his 5th year option, about keeping him on the team long term.

If I'm the Vikings, I'm taking a serious look at, do I really want to invest in a guy who's not willing to stay out of trouble.

Off the field when you're investing hundreds and millions of dollars into the future of your franchise, you want to trust that that's a good investment.

Right now, if I had to make up my decision, if I'm the owner of the Minnesota Vikings, and I had to make up my decision whether investing into Jordan Addison is a good idea or not.

I would say it probably isn't.
