This is the second player on Toronto's roster to miss practice with an illness.
William Nylander did not take to the ice for Toronto Maple Leafs practice at Ford Performance Centre on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old forward's absence from practice was illness-related, per the Maple Leafs and his status for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Kings is not clear.
"Well, that's up in the air right now. We'll see how he feels later on. I'll find out more later," Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said. "But, yeah, hopefully he's fine. We'll see."
This is the second player to have an illness this season for Toronto. John Tavares missed Saturday's game and Monday's skate with an ailment.
Berube acknowledged there is a flu bug going around affecting several players.
"We've had more guys with it too, but they were able to keep going," Berube said. So, well, got to watch for it. Great to see JT out there today. And, you know, he got through practice."
Tavares returned to the session for the first time since becoming ill. Nylander revealed that Tavares was under the weather during the club's 4-2 win against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
Max Pacioretty skated on the Maple Leafs' top unit in practice on Tuesday with Nylander absent.
The forward has two goals in the first three games of the season and is in the first year of an eight-year, $92 million contract.
