Toronto head coach John Gruden will head the North Division after the Marlies had the best record in the division by 2025.
The Toronto Marlies will have three representatives at the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic in Palm Desert, California.
Marlies captain Logan Shaw and Alex Steeves were selected for the two-day event on Wednesday. Both players have been to the AHL All-Star Classic before with Shaw having gone twice (2019 with the Manitoba Moose and 2023 with Toronto) and Steeves being selected last season.
Steeves leads the Marlies in points, with 30, and goals with 17, in 23 games this season. He recently broke the team's points record and is nine goals away from breaking the club's franchise goals record of 94 set by Ryan Hamilton.
Steeves ranks fifth in goals, 10th in points, and has the best points-per-game among AHL players this season.
The 25-year-old restricted free agent signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Maple Leafs in the offseason. He's set to be a Group 6 unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.
Shaw recently returned from the Spengler Cup where he represented Canada. Toronto's captain has four goals and 14 assists for 18 points in 27 games with the Marlies this season.
The veteran forward signed a two-year AHL extension with the Marlies on Dec. 20. His next deal is set to start after next year and will run until the end of the 2026-27 season.
Marlies head coach John Gruden was named the North Division's head coach on Dec. 28 after his team finished with the best record in the division. It's the first time he'll be an AHL All-Star as a coach.
"It's a team thing and it's a staff thing. Not just the assistant coaches, but the goalie coaches, video coaches, and everyone that travels," Gruden said on Dec. 30. "It's such a huge part and it makes my job, and our job, a lot easier. 100 percent I wish I could take them all [to the All-Star game]."
The AHL All-Star Classic will have a skills competition on Feb. 2 at 9 p.m. ET before the All-Star Challenge the following day (Feb. 3) at 9 p.m. ET. The league will also have its Hall of Fame induction and awards ceremony before the All-Star game.
