Kyle and Claire.
Kyle thought he’d finally figured out a way to checkmate Victor on The Young and the Restless. He offered to sign a contract that would see him paying the Newmans five million dollars if he ends up breaking Claire’s heart. But, after the June 4 episode, we’re wondering if Kyle is the one being played. And he’ll never see it coming.
Terms and Conditions
Yesterday, we speculated that Victor (Eric Braeden) doesn’t need another five million dollars, so Kyle (Michael Mealor) is out of luck there. You know what Victor would love to have, though? Kyle’s shares in Jabot. And Kyle is such an arrogant, spoiled brat that we can absolutely see him going ahead and signing a document that will give those to him if Kyle hurts Claire (Hayley Erin) in any way.
After all, Kyle has a very high opinion of himself. How could he possibly make any woman unhappy? Lola (Sasha Calle)? Summer (Allison Lanier)? Those breakups were their fault, not his. Kyle is blameless!

Behind the Scenes
At the same time, Victor is underwriting Audra’s (Zuleyka Silver) entire company just so that she will get Kyle into bed, so that he can prove to Claire what a jerk her boyfriend is. And that, really, shouldn’t be too hard.
Kyle is dumb. Audra is smart. She’ll get the job done sooner rather than later, and Victor will go running to Claire with the evidence. Kyle will be screwed — in more ways than once — and he’ll be forced to keep his part of the bargain and hand over those Jabot shares to Victor.

The Voice Behind the Curtain
But here’s where the really huge twist comes into play. (Kyle being stupid is expected, not a twist.) CLAIRE WAS IN ON IT ALL ALONG. We never thought it made any sense for her to be so obsessed with what her Grandpa Victor thought about her love life. She’d just escaped being controlled by psycho Aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk). Why would she expose herself to the same level of gaslighting?
Two Heads Are Better
Because this wasn’t gaslighting. This was a plan. Claire loves her newfound Grandpa. She wants to be just like him. She wants to be his heir. She wants to prove she’s better than Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Nick (Joshua Morrow), Adam (Mark Grossman), and Abby (Melissa Ordway). And what better way to do that than to help Grandpa get one over on Kyle and the dreaded Abbotts? Yup, Claire was in on it all along. It was her idea! Who’s the best Newman now?
