The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Tuesday, April 8, reveals that Martin Laurent aka “Alan Laurent” (Christopher Cousins) will turn sinister before Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) makes a secret call to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).
At the GCAC, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) will arrive after her flight from Paris, so Jack will end up quizzing her about Martin and whether it’s possible he survived the balcony fall instead of Alan.
Ashley will shut down the idea at first, but then she’ll admit there were a couple of suspicious things she might’ve brushed off.
After Ashley finds out about the kidnapper clues and realizes the danger could be real, she’ll threaten to kill Martin herself if he hurts Traci. Ashley will also want to see Traci right away.
However, Jack will think they should let Traci get some rest since “Alan” won’t be expected home until the next day.
Up in Traci’s suite, she’ll be surprised when “Alan” comes back early. Traci will pretend she’s thrilled, but Alan will get agitated when she suggests slowing down their whirlwind wedding plans.
“Alan” will sense that something has made Traci doubt him and will pick up on the change in her body language. Traci will realize this situation with “Alan” is getting risky, so she’ll secretly call Jack while her phone’s in her pocket.
Once Jack picks up, he’ll look alarmed as he hears “Alan” asking Traci what she’s found out and why she’s so afraid of him now.
At Society, Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) will need more time to process things now that she’s accepted she’s not over losing Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).
Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will clearly be sick of waiting around, so he’ll basically dump Summer and insist she needs to deal with her feelings on her own.
At the cottage, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will convince Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to delay their London trip since Chance might be closing in on the culprit.
Nick will do some research on “Alan” online, so he’ll read all about his twin brother who died in Paris last year.
Later, Chance will return with updates from the Paris clinic. The gas control valve purchase was unauthorized, so they told Chance that they suspected their system was hacked.
There was another unauthorized purchase involving a lease for a farmhouse just outside of Genoa City. Sharon will realize that must be where the captor stayed while they were being held hostage.
Phyllis will suggest that watching his brother die might’ve been enough to make “Alan” go crazy. Sharon will also consider the idea that maybe “Alan” is being framed, but Nick will feel like Chance is holding back information related to the case.
Chance won’t want to spill too much, but he’ll eventually drop a hint about “Alan” not being Alan. Nick, Sharon and Phyllis will realize it’s possible Martin – the twin who’s been in and out of psych wards – was behind the captivity drama.
