Yankees’ Aaron Boone Announces Jasson Dominguez News After Missed Game
The New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Guardians 3-2 without left fielder Jasson Dominguez (thumb) on Tuesday largely thanks to a seven-inning, one-run outing by starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (8-3, 2.49 ERA). Infielder DJ LeMahieu plated fellow infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. on a single in the fifth before Chisholm and shortstop Anthony Volpe each hit solo homers in the seventh.
Outfielder Cody Bellinger subbed in for Dominguez in the sixth inning of New York's 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday and started in left on Tuesday, going 1-for-4 with one strikeout.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone provided an update about Dominguez before their game vs. the Guardians on Wednesday, via MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.
"Jasson Domínguez said his thumb is feeling better today. He’s receiving treatment and may resume swinging a bat today," Hoch reported. "Aaron Boone said he’s available off the bench as a pinch-runner for sure."
Dominguez is slashing .247/.346/.420 with six homers and 25 RBI through 49 contests.

The 22-year-old played just 26 MLB games before this season due to elbow and oblique injuries. He signed with New York as an international free agent in July 2019 and got called up for the first time in September 2023.
Bellinger will start in left again on Wednesday and hit fourth behind star right fielder Aaron Judge. The former Chicago Cub will be protected by first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who's slashing .327/.382/.477 with six homers and 28 RBI across 59 games. His batting average ranks sixth in baseball.
Meanwhile, right-handed pitcher Clarke Schmidt (2-2, 3.95 ERA) will start for the Yankees.
